Building a Brand Sound
The Challenge
The Challenge
A global hospitality brand is not one hotel. It is seventy expressions of one idea - the same identity landing in Tokyo, Dubai, Nashville, Bali, each shaped by a different city, a different guest, a different cultural moment. The music cannot be the same in all of them. It also cannot be different in all of them. Building a brand sound means holding both truths at once.
Most brands don't. They default to a genre, a mood, a playlist that travels. Guests who stay frequently notice. The music starts to feel like wallpaper.
We begin with research - into positioning, guest profile, design language, F&B strategy, competitive set, and the full arc of the guest experience across the portfolio. Before a single track is chosen, we need to know where the brand lives in the world of sound.
That research goes further than the brand itself. Every official review, every guest review, every mention of music - however incidental - gets read. Someone noting that the lobby felt "lively" at check-in. A critic describing the bar as "atmospheric." A TripAdvisor review that says the music was too loud at dinner. A travel writer who mentions the pool had a good energy without knowing why. These are data points. Collectively they tell us what the sound is doing now, where it's working, and where it's letting the spaces down. We go into every brief knowing what guests have already said, even when they didn't know they were saying it.
From there, our strategy process draws on three proprietary frameworks - Sonic Mapping, Key Curation Indicators, and the Refinement Floor - developed and refined across hundreds of properties worldwide.
The Sound
A master sound that travels. Curation briefs specific enough to mean something and flexible enough to hold across cultures, seasons, and every property in the portfolio.
